Listening - A Skill I Teach and Pretend Is Learned

What people don’t seem to realize is that to be creative, to express something the rest of us want to listen to, you have to listen too. No, not just too, but more than the rest of us do. Earn our attention. To say something we couldn't say but could instantly connect to, to connect to us with new and old and understandable and believable and appealable all wrapped together (because that's what it takes to capture our attention, no not just capture but keep) You need to observe and then prove.
You need to have so much filling you up that it can't help but spill out. You have to live bigger, live broader, live more than the rest of us, store it up for the rest of us but know how to say it to the rest of us from listening to others say it. Otherwise you will never know how to say it.
